G.A. Blocker Grading Contractor, Inc., is a family-owned and operated business headquartered in Oswego, IL. The 50+ year-old company focuses on mass earthwork, construction management of large multi-faceted site development projects, general contracting services on infrastructure projects, building excavation, remedial work, underground utility construction and marina construction.

CLIENT SITUATION

G.A. Blocker needed to gain more control of field production as it related to their earth-moving equipment, such as off-road trucks and scrapers. The company’s leadership was underwhelmed by their existing telematics solution’s features and customer service. They knew that the opportunities for increasing their field production and enhancing their maintenance program were out there - but they lacked the right solution to find these opportunities and capitalize on them. They were eager to adopt a more dependable, tech-forward solution to better meet their needs and to help them manage their job sites and assets more effectively and profitably. G.A. Blocker’s leadership was specifically looking for ways to remotely measure the productivity of their equipment, including dump cycle times, across multiple locations and asset types. They also needed support tracking critical financial information, addressing maintenance issues, and reducing equipment idle time.

HOW GAUGE MADE A DIFFERENCE

Our first goal was to ensure that all relevant project management personnel had real-time and historical insight to cycle times, cycle counts, and total cubic yards of material moved by job site. Our second goal was to provide the maintenance department with automated schedules and work orders for upcoming preventative maintenance and repairs.
The company now had a crystal-clear view into their equipment cycles, utilization, and maintenance schedules on the Gauge Smart Hub. We walked them through how to easily segment this information by site and by asset to enable more granular and effective decision making. To support adoption of our solution, we were on-call to provide full onboarding support whenever the team needed.
